Mountains and Lake by zoeyscoffee Mountains and Lake by zoeyscoffee
Been trying to practice foliage like crazy. Simplifying dense foliage is hard, man. D: I feel like the rest of this 5.5x10 sized sketchbook will just be me painting trees. LOL!

Somewhat relevant story: I first tried painting this with water-mixable oil one afternoon on a 9x12 canvas, because I had never done oils before. Turns out, it's a lot more straightforward than watercolor? Perhaps would take more time because you can achieve a greater level of detail with oil. Anyway, the "cadmium yellow hue" smelled a bit funny, but I didn't think too much about it because, hey, it's oils. Didn't use any solvents aside from water. Two hours later I feel dizzy and start sweating for no reason; and thus my oil painting dream ended. It's okay, though--I got to experience it at least once, and turns out I still liked watercolor more, so back here I go. :D
